Google Unveils Caffeine Search Index
Google has implemented a new web-indexing system, called Caffeine, that promises to bring searchers more current results in less time.
Google Caffeine Search Index is Google’s response to the constantly changing nature of the web, which now includes many sites that frequently update their content and use video and animations.

“Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others. There was a
significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you. With Caffeine, we analyse the
web in small portions and update on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index,” said Google software engineer Carrie Grimes.
Visitors to Google’s search engine won’t see any visual difference but the company hopes that the quality of the results will be clear, with Grimes claiming that they would be “50 per cent fresher”.
